 Accomplishments:

Accomplishments:

Microsoft Redmond Ridge 1 facility, 17MW critical load, 18kW/rack, 1.15 PUE:

  • Solved a serious space pressure regulation issue using data analytics that informed a major revision in mechanical SOO controls programming

  • Established a highly tuned, site specific maintenance program through custom formulated, asset based considerations informed by OEM, Engineers of Record and standards such as ASHRAE, etc.

  • Implemented a sophisticated fuel testing program and site acceptance protocols

  • Performed an energy experiment and subsequently authored a business case to improve energy efficiency and dramatically increase replacement interval for a very large AHU filter requirement

  • Authored a business case that yielded acquisition of a high cap ex battery monitoring system

  • Created a special access secure server and network for remote site access to the BMS

  • Identified and implemented a power distribution solution to get stranded power from the main data halls into a core network equipment room

  • Improved network room heat rejection via custom ductwork and containment modifications using supplemental exhaust blowers and dampers to allow air scavenging from main halls

  • Implemented training program by securing many hours of video recorded presentations of engineers from the design build firms and created extensive site specific SME derived training materials derived from O&M documentation, BOD narrative and integrated system SOO narratives

  • Optimized the controls/BMS alarming environment to eliminate erroneous or nuisance alarms

  • Migrated significant preventive maintenance program scope to self-performance, to include a large VESDA installation

Vantage Santa Clara facility campus:

  • Created and implemented a fully formalized maintenance program

  • Populated CMMS with all major asset inventory and all recurring maintenance scheduling

  • Performed an extensive survey to identify all hyper-critical alarms and implemented a system that filtered all such alarms to a 24/7 NOC for FO team notifications, then performed an extensive culling of an overdeveloped alarm notification environment (non-serious alarms, approach alarms, nuisance alarms, etc.) to solve a serious FO team operational readiness impairment

  • Instituted a comprehensive procedure library of MOPs, EOPs, SOPs, etc.

  • Scheduled and performed drills to rehearse all abnormal condition scenarios anticipated by the EOP library

  • Training:  Instituted fully formulated training program, with SMEs drafting site specific training materials based on integrated systems presentations derived from SOO narratives, etc.

  • Eliminated all energized work through adoption of industry best practices and corporate NFPA 70E mandates

  • After a massive Central Chiller plant failure due to a poorly commissioned new controls migration, spearheaded a comprehensive upgrade and rigorous testing project for the system

 

Schneider Electric Special Projects:

  • Created a comprehensive site operations manual for a large legacy Amazon data center

  • Created a comprehensive Safety Program for an Uptime certified Tier III facility

  • Perfected budget tracking techniques and lead CFMs in same for MS portfolio

  • Performed a detailed post mortem and provided corrective action recommendations for a massive network failure at a production MS data center triggered by procedure deviation during regular STS maintenance

 

Morgan Stanley

Accomplishments:

  • Designed, built and operated two 100W/ftsq production online trading data centers:  2N geo fault tolerant for Emergency Power sources, 2N or N+1 for power and mechanical

  • Orchestrated several data center relocations and decommissioned one with reallocation of IT assets

  • Planned and effected numerous facility upgrades:  Headered CRACs together with isodampers, instituted HA/CA, added split DX units for supplemental/emergency cooling, expanded cooling tower system, upgraded mechanical controls for fault tolerance, power migration to upsize utility transformer, phased in conditioned power capacity via an 8-to-make-7 power weave

  • Tapped for various IT skunkworks:  Search engine bake-off, web layer migration to commodity IT gear

  • Converted stranded office space into mini-dc lab environment for QA/QC coding group

  • Designed and built a failsafe EPO maintenance panel system days before a major DC recommissioning effort
